Grant for Summer 2009
With support from the U.S. Department of Education's Title VI Program, the Center for African Studies is offering a course development grant of $3000 (as summer salary). The grant must be utilized to develop a new course that has 50% or more African studies content. Funds may be used for the development of study abroad courses.
TO APPLY:
Submit a proposal (3-4 pages) which addresses the following:
- Suggested course title and brief description (appropriate for course catalogue)
- Expected course credit
- Format--lecture, lecture/discussion, seminar style
- Course level (100, 200, 300, 400)
- Expected semester and year for teaching the course and the expected frequency for teaching it
- Role of the course in your department'’s curriculum and in an interdisciplinary context (i.e., elective course for minor, major, master's degree; potential for cross-listing with other departments; pre-requisites)
- Outline of potential course content--including broad conceptual or theoretical matters, readings, and assignments. What is the geographical focus (national, regional comparative)?
- No Budget is required--grant provides summer salary
