Proficiency in an indigenous African language constitutes a key component in our program. Our Master’s students are required to achieve proficiency in their language of choice up to the third year, while undergraduate students can take African languages to fulfill their general education language requirement, complete an undergraduate minor, an individual plan of study major, or a Certificate in Global Business Culture with Area Specialization. The blue section of the menu on the left offers links to information about these programs of study.
All four languages are taught regularly through the second year, with Swahili offered through the third year, and some languages taught through the fifth year. Contact the Department of Linguistics for more information. Our African language lecturers and instructors include native speakers.
